In the summer of 1958, the year I graduated from high school, I started a summer job which was one of the most fantastic experiences of my life. The job was as a member of the Trail Crew run by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) to maintain about 350 miles of trail and about 18 shelters in the White Mountain area of New Hampshire and Maine. I worked very, very hard, gained a lot of self confidence, and made some lifelong friends.
In this section so far I've included articles and notices about the Trail Crew in Appalachia, the flagship publication of the AMC.
I've also included the story of a mass resignation from the 1960 Trail Crew.
I've also included the story of a mass resignation from the 1960 Trail Crew.
